Canadian Lieutenant Colonel James Sutherland Brown developed Defense Scheme No. 1 to prepare for the situation in which the Americans would invade Canada. The plan called for a rapid offense and occupation of Seattle, Great Falls, Minneapolis, and Albany in the United States to buy time for British reinforcements to arrive. This plan was terminated in 1928.
