Future German submarine ace Kapitänleutnant Hans Jenisch was born at Gerdauen, East Prussia, Germany. He would command U-32 which would be responsible for sinking seventeen vessels and damaging three more (including HMS Fiji) before being captured on 30 Oct 1940.
