The US Vice-Consul, General Poole, and the French representative, Colonel Hucher, arrived in Novocherkassk, Russia. After conferring with both Kaledin and Alekseev both officials urged their respective governments to give support to the Volunteer Army, which was now some 3,500 strong and equipped largely with weapons provided by the Cossacks.
