Roderick Carr and L. E. M. Gillmann's attempt to fly non-stop from Britain to India failed as they ran out of fuel and had to ditch their aircraft in the Persian Gulf near Bandar Abbas, Iran. Despite the failure, they would achieve a world record for flight distance, however.
