Sir Hughe Knatchbull-Hugessen, the British ambassador in Ankara, Turkey, telegraphed London with the main points that Adolf Hitler intended to cover in a speech dealing with his peace proposals. His source was the Dutch ambassador in Ankara who, in turn, was quoting a rumour started by the Geerman ambassador, Franz von Papen.
