German destroyers Galster, Lody, and Beitzen departed Brest, France after sundown to attack British shipping off Cornwall, southwestern England, United Kingdom, sinking Belgian trawler Marguerite Simonne and Dutch ship Apollonia (killing 15). Five British destroyers were dispatched to hunt down the attackers, but failed to locate them.
