A few days ago, Hussein was driving me through some narrow streets in Beirut and he suddenly left the car and went off to some shop. And there I was all on my own in the car in this crowded street and I remember thinking: "A few years ago, if I'd been sitting on my own here, I'd have been very, very frightened"
