03 Jan 1926 birth Sir George Martin, 60's EMI in-house record producer and so-called fifth Beatle. Produced all but one of The Beatles albums as well as working with comedy acts The Goons and Beyond The Fringe. Received a Knighthood in 1996.

12 Jan 1926 Born on this day Ray Price, singer, songwriter and guitarist. His wide-ranging baritone has often been praised as among the best male voices of country music. Price died on 16th Dec 2013 aged 87 at his ranch outside Mount Pleasant, Texas.

03 Jun 1926 birth in Newark, New Jersey, Irwin Allen Ginsberg. A leading figure in the Beat Generation, he first met Bob Dylan in 1963 and they remained life long friends. In 1971 Ginsberg and Dylan collaborated on a series of poetry readings set to music. Allen Ginsberg is one of the figures in the background for the iconic film promo of Bob Dylan card flipping the lyrics of Subterranean Homesick Blues. Ginsberg died of liver cancer on April 5th 1997 aged 70.

14 Jul 1926 birth Lowman Pauling, guitarist, The Five Royales, co-wrote 1967 hit for Mamas and the Papas, 'Dedicated To The One I Love' which was originally a 1961 hit for the Shirelles. It got to No.3 on the Hot 100. The Five Royales recorded the song in 1957 but it never charted. It was included on their album, Dedicated To You. He died on 26th December 1973.

Goode' was one of the examples of music from Earth sent out to space. Berry was one of the pioneers of rock and roll music, who helped developed rhythm and blues into the major elements that made rock and roll distinctive; his lyrics focusing on teen life and consumerism plus his own brand of showmanship became a major influence on subsequent rock music.
